Going organic with cotton, hemp & bamboo

organic newborn clothesThere are two things that parents can be happy about when they choose to go organic and purchase organic newborn clothes for their little ones. One is that they are helping their precious one remain irritation free and can get away from skin problems such as eczema and other types of rashes. Two, they are helping the environment, in their own little way, and saving it from being more polluted than it already is. Organic newborn clothes are certainly free from toxic pesticides that are used in growing non-organic cotton.

When you hear about organic newborn clothes, a lot of people mostly associate it to being made out of organic cotton. This is partly true because a lot of organic newborn cloths are made from organic cotton. But it may come as a surprise to you that hemp is also often mixed in with the organic cotton.

Hemp is often grown for its fiber and seeds, which are very resilient. It is an even a better choice than cotton because it can be grown without the use of pesticides and does not require as much water to grow as cotton does.  Its addition when making organic newborn clothes is something that should be welcomed because it can give organic cotton a stronger yet softer material that can well adapt to being machine-washed and resists pilling. Hemp makes the fabric that is somewhat similar to linen, however, more soft and breathable! It makes the organic newborn clothes cooler and more comfortable for babies to wear.

There is also another material that can well be used for organic newborn clothes and that is bamboo. Like hemp, bamboo is grown without the use of pesticides. It has the drape comparable to silk and feel that is of Egyptian cotton quality. With bamboo being used for your organic newborn clothes, you do not have to worry about shrinkage and pilling because they have now become a thing of the past. What you get out of bamboo are anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic, soft and irritant-free organic newborn clothes that are fit for babies’ sensitive skin. Bamboo also has good thermal properties, allowing the baby to remain cool in the summer and warm in winter. Hemp and bamboo both have absorbency that is double that of the cotton. Double the fun!

Among the three, it is organic cotton that is readily available and more often used in the production of organic newborn clothes. Hopefully in the future, there will be an increase in demand for hemp and bamboo and more apparel will be made out of it. If you are wondering though, there are a number of companies that have specialized in organic newborn clothes made from bamboo material. And JuneBee Baby is one of them!

Once you have tried dressing your child with organic newborn clothes, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to be dressing them up with anything else. You will see how your baby is happier with softer and more comfortable clothes to wear and won’t ever want to go back! You might even decide it’s all your want on your own skin as well.
